Mo’ Money, Mo’ Money

As you may already know, I’ve been growing a moustache over the last month for Movember, and after a lot of heckling from my readership, the much anticipated ‘moustache post’ has finally arrived. At the beginning of the month I had every intention of taking a photo of my face every day, and putting together a little movie, so you could all witness the progress of my moustache. But November has been a very busy month for me, and the ‘mo movie’ is just one of many things that have fallen by the wayside recently. Try not to get upset about it. It’s not you — it’s me.

The Move

I’ve taken so long to actually type up and publish this entry that it kinda seems a bit useless now. 5 weeks ago, when we actually moved house, all we could think about was moving, lifting, packing, unpacking, organising, repositioning, throwing out old junk, and aquiring new junk. Now that we’ve had a few weeks to settle in, that all seems like an eternity ago. I’m really only posting this because I took a before and after shot specifically for the purposes of blogging, and damn it — I’m going to post them!

Still settling in… and IT trouble

I’ve been ‘off the grid’ lately, and it wouldn’t be fair to blame that solely on the lack of electricity/phone line/internet access. I’ve also been taking my time adjusting to the new routine. It didn’t help that my first attempt at checking my personal email at work (during my lunchbreak, I might add) was met with an error message that seemed to indicate that not only was I unable to access my webmail URL, but my attempt to access said URL had been recorded and forwarded on to the IT department. My second day on the job.

Needless to say, I’m a little apprehensive, so for the time being, I’ll keep my blogging outside business hours.

Happy Birthday Richie

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Richie of The Hush a very happy 29th birthday today!

Good on you, Rich. I hope you have a great day, mate.

More like Jerks II

I am a semi-regular reader of Kevin Smith’s blog My Boring Ass Life, so when he mentioned there, that he would be visiting Melbourne when his new film Clerks II opened on August 31, I made a note of the date in my phone.

Then I read in Hit that the Melbourne premiere will be at The Astor on August 25, with Mr. Smith in attendance, and that tickets are available from Ticketmaster. I eagerly jumped on over to Ticketmaster, only to discover tickets had sold out. It seems that although Hit had mentioned it on Thursday as though it was recent news, and despite my existing membership to Ticketmaster’s newsletter, neither had alerted me to the fact that tickets had not only gone on sale on Monday, but that there was also a pre-sale on Sunday. I didn’t stand a chance.

Call me a McVegetarian

I had McDonald’s for lunch today, as I am wont to do whenever I haven’t brought anything from home, and in the aftermath of seeing the film Super Size Me, I don’t eat the fries any more, so I’m always coming up with new ways of filling myself up without having to resort to ordering French Fries.

I’ve not felt much like blogging lately

My family returned from a holiday in South America recently, only to learn that while they were away, my sister Coony and I were forced to make the grim decision to put our family’s Jack Russell Wallace to sleep, due to chronic kidney failure. Two days of tests, and two nights in hospital on a drip ensured we’d done everything we could to save him, but he was beyond recovery. He was 10.

During November I’ll be participating in Movember — growing a moustache to raise money for men’s health charities like the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue. You can sponsor my mo by clicking here and entering your credit card details.

I’ve been enjoying reading Nicky O’s blog Honky Nick so much over the last few days, I almost forgot to post about it.

Victoria’s first Krispy Kreme store is now open at Fountain Gate. No longer will Melburnians have to stock up during a stopover at Sydney Airport.

Socially conscious Nao is donating $5 for every comment left here to charity.
