Broken Flowers

I love it when films make you think about them afterwards. I especially love it when the possibilities are so innumerous that there’s a whole sequel to Broken Flowers playing out in my head. If you’re wanting the story to wrap up nicely at the end, which I did until I grew a greater appreciation of it (I told you I was thinking about it afterwards), then maybe give it a miss.

Don’t be reading on, if ye not be wantin’ spoilers!

I’ll assume that if you’re still reading this, you’ve seen Broken Flowers, or you don’t mind me giving anything away.

Did anyone notice that Homer Murray was the kid in the car? Though, I think they just threw that in to imply that there may actually be many sons. I don’t think there really is a son at all, though. I’ve decided that Julie Delpy wrote the letter, as a ploy to spark some change in Bill Murray (which apparently succeeded).

Best. Pizza. Ever.

Almost every weekend, for I can’t remember how long, when it gets near tea time, a combination of a desire for junk food, and reluctance to venture outdoors, leads us to the same conclusion — home delivered pizza. Tonight was no exception.

Shagy’s Meat Lova — Rarely do I find the misspelling of words make them seem more appealling.

I’m a meatasaurus at heart, and Nao’s more of a fresh ingredients type of gal, so in an effort to satiate both our appetites, we concocted the pizza by which all others should be measured. It’s essentially what Shagy’s call a Meat Lova, but with added capsicum, and chunks of fresh tomato (Not to mention nuggets of spicy beef the size of your fist!).

In other, non-pizza-related news, I’m going to Cairns next week, so that might be interesting, mightn’t it?

Steve’s Barbeque

I attended Steve and Claire’s housewarming on Friday night, and a ‘top night’ was had by all. They both played terrific hosts, not only cooking for all the guests (highlights included Jamie Oliver-style homemade pizzas, and satay chicken skewers!), but Steve also going to the trouble of building the deck we were all standing on.

These people are called Richie, Naomi, Arron, Nigel, and Robert

Good food, good company, and a miniature pool table. Could it get any better?

South Park Studio

I’ve been putting this post off all morning — I mean, who posts pictures of themselves as South Park characters on the internet? However, Pandora’s Box has been opened now, so I feel obligated to follow through.

Me holding a beer at the bus stop (like I always do, der!)

Nao, with iPod, and a cocktail (they obviously didn’t have a glass of wine)

Now everyone can go here and make their own South Park character and post it here. You have to take a screenshot though, coz there’s no export function.

You can thank Tim for creating this monster.

Fauves design gig

As I’ve already mentioned, after hearing The Fauves had a new album in the works, I emailed them to see if I could design the cover. Well, Coxy eventually got back to me…

He writes:

Hi Luke,
Thanks for sending your sample through. I think we could definately use your skills in the design of a poster or some street press ads for upcoming tours. We have already taken care of the cover art for our album but I’ll be in touch.
Bye
Andrew
The Fauves

So, I’m pretty stoked to say the least. Although, as Nao pointed out, the misspelling of the word ‘definitely’ is a little out of character for the real Coxy!

Out of interest, here’s the sample I sent.

Inter-blog Cross-over Special

OK, so Tim posted a link to this site on his blog Trolleyology.net, so I’m returning the favour, and attempting the infamous Trackback (a first for this little blogger).

Apparently, I “bumped into [him] on Christmas Eve” and it must’ve been years since I’ve seen him. But anyways, he’s a neat guy, and now we can be blog buddies. OH GOD! Maybe I’m the guy with the Linux car!

No, I’m pretty sure it’s still Tim.

Twenty Oh Six

Nao and I had a quiet New Years Eve this year — stayed home and played Smash Court Tennis: Pro Tournament 2 (which we’re slightly obsessed with at the moment), and were in bed by 11.

I received an SMS from Mum and Dad however, at 1.45 am! What’s the matter with parents today?
