Brokeback Mountain

There’s a few movies that Nao and I have pegged in the pre-Oscars period, and this was one of hers. Which is not to say I didn’t enjoy it — far from it — I’m just a bit sick of hearing Heath Ledger’s name at the moment. If you wan’t my opinion, and let’s face it — why would you be here if you didn’t — the good money’s on Philip Seymour Hoffman.
All cynicism aside, Brokeback Mountain is an excellent film, and well acted by both the leads, but Hoffman’s due — didn’t anyone see Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love, or Almost Famous?
My only other hot tip this year is Joyeux Noël for Best Foreign Language Film. Again, one of Nao’s picks, but brilliant. I’ll be very surprised if anything can top it.
Anyways, I probably should’ve called this entry Oscars Crap but oh well. Even if you’ve not seen Brokeback Mountain, the trailer should sufficiently prepare you for BrokeMac Mountain.

we loved brokeback too and thought all performances were great, especially heath’s. however, i’m really pleased that hoffman is so certain to win (capote isn’t out here till march). loved him for years and now he’s finally getting some recognition. I recommend Flawless for Hoffman’s performance alone. His only rival for best actor of the last few years is Rusty.
Broke Mac was great, but check out Brokeback to the Future ;)
